Description
Asian Lacquered Drum With Figures
It feels like resin or lacquer ware, the detail in the design is beautiful
Lightweight figure of two children holding a drum, which opens up as a small box
I have found conflicting information online, with some information making me think it is chinese
while other information pushing it towards the japanese export market during the Meiji Period (1868-1912)
There are no makers marks on this piece.
At the moment I can’t confirm how old this piece is.
It is approximately 12cm across and the figures 7cm tall
The faces have small cracks and the head on one of the figures feel slightly rough as if it had previously had a hat and the hardened glue residue is left
I have taken several photos to show condition
